LEAN SIX SIGMA GREEN BELT    5 day(s)

This is the introductory course in Lean Six Sigma, and will give individuals a thorough understanding of Lean Six Sigma and its focus on eliminating inefficiencies and non-value added activities from a process or organization. Covered topics include DMAIIC, Lean, and the Six Sigma philosophy. A focus is provided to highlight basic statistics, value stream mapping, statistical process control, waste reduction, process capability, financial implications and root cause analysis.

Overview:

Learn how to integrate principles of business, statistics, waste reduction, and engineering to achieve tangible results. Master the use of Lean Six Sigma to quantify the critical quality issues in your company. Once the issues have been quantified, lean and six sigma analysis, including statistics can be applied to provide probabilities of success and failure. Lean and Six Sigma methods increase productivity and enhance quality. As a Lean Six Sigma green belt, you will be equipped to support and champion Lean Six Sigma implementation in your organization. To earn the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certificate, you will be required to pass Lean Six Sigma green belt exam.

Previous trainees have reported significant savings from implementing their projects.

  • A financial services organization saw $1.97 million dollars in cost savings per year when they improved transactional work processing.
  • An aerospace manufacturing organization saved over $300,000 by improving its performance yields at test and increasing yields from 68% to 100%.

Topic Highlights:

  • Basic statistics
  • Value Stream Mapping
  • Cycle Time Reduction
  • DMAIIC
  • Financial implications
  • Process capability
  • Root cause analysis
  • 5S
  • Six Sigma process and objective
  • Statistical process control

MASTER BLACK BELT 20 day(s)

This program evaluates an applicant's experience and performance related to Six Sigma and training and coaching. To earn the title of Master black belt, individuals must demonstrate proficiency in teaching Six Sigma and in coaching green and black belts and must pass an examination. Each program is tailored to the applicant's background and experiences and is priced accordingly. When an individual is judged to have met the standards, the Master Black Belt Certificate is awarded.

Course Schedule

Courses are scheduled on an individual basis.

Overview:

The Six Sigma title of master black belt is the highest level of recognition that a Six Sigma practitioner can attain. It is normally an indication that the holder of the designation has completed a significant number of process improvements as well as serving as a mentor, coach and teacher for other Six Sigma participants. The master black belt is an experienced black belt, coach, trainer and champion of Six Sigma. The designation is not given lightly. In order to be recognized as an MBB, certain core competencies need to be demonstrated. In this program you will be evaluated on your performance as it relates to your knowledge and proficiency in Six Sigma, teaching Six Sigma and coaching green and black belts. In order to be recognized as a master black belt, you must demonstrate the following core competencies:

• Competency Area: Six Sigma Philosophy

The purpose of this area is to validate that the MBB candidate has a firm understanding of Six Sigma prior to becoming a student. Candidates must have completed a recognized green belt and black belt training program. Authenticated course certificates must be submitted to validate this competency.

• Competency Area: Training

The purpose of this area is to validate that the MBB candidate can explain and teach the core Six Sigma body of knowledge topics. This competency must be observed. A certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt must spend at least one full day observing the candidate presenting Six Sigma training.

• Competency Area: MBB Project

The MBB should have a body of approved projects demonstrating proficiency in applying the strategy, methods, and tools generally associated with Six Sigma. The projects should demonstrate mastery of a wide variety of different tools. The candidate must submit a minimum of three (3) representative projects that have been completed and approved by the organization hosting the project.

• Competency Area: Coaching

The MBB has demonstrated an ability to “bring out the best” in BB and GB candidates and practitioners. Essential to this is the coaching and mentoring of ongoing projects. This competency must be observed by a certified Master Black Belt who attends at least two coaching sessions conducted by the candidate with Six Sigma project teams.

• Competency Area: Advanced Statistics

Proficiency in statistical applications is critical for an MBB. This includes all of the statistical methods cited within the generally agreed upon body of knowledge, such as the one presented by the American Society for Quality (ASQ). The candidate must pass an examination prepared and administered by Milward & Associates.
